I would propose that dark energy is the fabric of the universe - it is the underlying energy grid for all matter that exists within the universe. It is the energy grid with which all matter connects. And that what we have come to know of and understand as gravity, is the result of mass interacting with dark energy. Gravity is the energy stream which all matter produces as it consumes dark energy.

My focus is a rather narrow one, gravity as it relates to dark energy. To my way of thinking, dark energy is the embedded substrate, present, throughout the universe, which facilitates the existence of all things.

Rather than being particle-base, dark energy, to my way of thinking, is frequency-based.

So, from where would this frequency emanate?

Does the universe have a center?

Does the universe have at it center, mass around which it rotates?

Why would we observe rotation within the universe on so many levels, and yet NOT expect that the universe itself would be rotating?

Would rotation on such a large scale even be detectable? After all, our observable universe may simply be like that spec on a dinner plate, rotating in the microwave. The plate may be rotating, but everything in that spec (which may itself be expanding) stays relative to each other.

Dear John,

Your quest for truth is elegant and your questions will lead you to that absolute truth. Singularity is not just an infinite point as described in relativity, it is the entire universe in itself. Everything in infinity is center of infinity. Your assumption is right that entire universe is in infinite motion relative to its contents and this is the effect of dark energy on mass, but at it is also at absolute rest relative to itself.

Absolute rest = singularity = infinite motion

Hi Sridattadev,

Gravity (a proper understanding of it) has been keeping QM and relativity apart; unify gravity, as it really exists, into whatever you choose, and you unify everything else; automatically.

Gravity is not a mysterious force; no more mysterious than carbon monoxide coming out of a vehicle thats consuming gasoline to maintain its forward motion. Its part of the process at hand.

If I may further explain my thoughts on Garvity as it relates to Dark Energy.

Mass is actually a form of dark energy...just like ice is a form of water. One way of looking at mass, is that it pops out of dark energy...like a plant pops out of the earth. The plant is a form of the earth (reconfigured...and aided by sunlight, of course), but the basic building blocks of plants are found in the earth.

So too it is with mass and dark energy...it can be said of mass, that it too, pops out, but it pops out of dark energy, rather than the earth.

Likewise (or related to this analogy) black holes are the vehicle by which, matter pops back into dark energy.

Where does matter go that disappears into a black hole? It gets converted into dark energy.

Remember, energy cannot be created or annihilated...it simply changes form. Dark energy is the underlying grid. The constant that is the fabric of the cosmos.

Dear John,

Whatever we may call it in scientific terms, dark energy or singularity, I know that conscience is that constant energy source of the universe which is eternal (it can neither be created nor destroyed, we can only know its existence) and hence it is the cosmological constant.

He refers to it as the cosmic consciousness - his QM-based postulation is that the observer affects the outcome.

Dr. Goswami and I had several conversations via email. As I recall them, his contention (and where we were in disagreement) was that the observer affected the outcome. Mine was that the cosmic consciousness affected the outcome, based upon the observer (as well as other factors, such as the circumstances, at hand, etc.). In my opinion, he was giving the cosmic consciousness too little credit - and the observer, too much.

He also referred to the cosmic consciousness as the quantum consciousness.

We agreed on everything else, except that - in the end, we both remained unconvinced of the other's view.

He was very kind and generous with his time.

In furtherance of this line of thought on gravity:

The interesting part of gravity being the result of mass consuming dark energy (at least for me), is that it solves the problem that Quantum Mechanics has with Relativity, or vice versa.

Now the same gravity is apparent on both the cosmic, as well as the quantum level.

Of course gravity is the same regardless of where its observed... but now we have an explanation, with which to justify its existence, wherever we may find it.

Dear John,

To percieve an observer (i "am" or local consciousness) as different from cosmic consciousness can be referred to as duality or relativity, to realize that the observer and the cosmic consciousness (universal i) are one and the same is singularity or absolute. So you both are right in your own perspectives, it is just the language that is limiting union of your opinions.

If we let go of all that we have imagined to limit our self, we will realize who we really are, the universal i or singularity or cosmic consciousness.

who am I? I am duality, i is the singularity.

'Dominate'?

How does the earth dominate plant life?

The earth facilitates plant life; it is the vehicle that plants use to exist ... the means by which they exist. The earth is the medium, the underlying structure which enables, facilitates, the existence of all plant life.

So too dark energy ... it is the underlying structure present throughout the universe, which facilitates all matter.

Rather than a relationship based upon dominance, I see one of symbiosis; interrelationships (interdependent relationships) between all things present within the universe - a mechanism of unimaginable diversity.

Matter, to my way of thinking, is a form of dark energy. Just like ice is a form of water. One way of looking at matter is that it springs forth from dark energy ... like a plant springs out of the earth.

Matter is a form of dark energy - dark energy, by its very nature, contains all of the ingredients necessary for matter's existence.

Ultimately, the greatest tool we have for understanding the universe is our thought process.

If you do not understand why your rating dropped down. As I found ratings in the contest are calculated in the next way. Suppose your rating is [math]R_1 [/math] and [math]N_1 [/math] was the quantity of people which gave you ratings. Then you have [math]S_1=R_1 N_1 [/math] of points. After it anyone give you [math]dS [/math] of points so you have [math]S_2=S_1+ dS [/math] of points and [math]N_2=N_1+1 [/math] is the common quantity of the people which gave you ratings. At the same time you will have [math]S_2=R_2 N_2 [/math] of points. From here, if you want to be R2 > R1 there must be: [math]S_2/ N_2>S_1/ N_1 [/math] or [math] (S_1+ dS) / (N_1+1) >S_1/ N_1 [/math] or [math] dS >S_1/ N_1 =R_1[/math] In other words if you want to increase rating of anyone you must give him more points [math]dS [/math] then the participant`s rating [math]R_1 [/math] was at the moment you rated him. From here it is seen that in the contest are special rules for ratings. And from here there are misunderstanding of some participants what is happened with their ratings. Moreover since community ratings are hided some participants do not sure how increase ratings of others and gives them maximum 10 points. But in the case the scale from 1 to 10 of points do not work, and some essays are overestimated and some essays are drop down. In my opinion it is a bad problem with this Contest rating process. I hope the FQXI community will change the rating process.
