Essay Abstract
If we live in a three dimensional Universe, are we incapable of visualising higher dimensions? Does the 'origin' set at zero in Cartesian geometry limit us to thinking in points? By moving the zeros apart can we obtain a fresh insight into geometry? Look at a simple square. It has four straight edges at right angles. We use this to build a model of a four dimensional universe - in under a minute. In three dimensions 'points' cannot be explored but in four the points become surfaces, which can. Further, changing to spherical geometry results in a system that can cope with an infinite number of dimensions and an infinite number of parallel universes. More exciting is that it can be used on any scale from the whole universe, to singularities thought to exist at the centres of black holes, down to the infinitely small quantum level. All without requiring a single new equation.
