Video Description

This film aims to highlight the rewarding careers available to physicists in medicine and encourage young pupils and students to continue studying physics, with a view to pursuing a career in the field. It uses first-hand accounts from men and women just starting out on physics-based healthcare careers in the UK. This includes: • a medical physicist working in a hospital to ensure the safety and efficiency of treatments • a researcher using magnetic resonance imaging to study neuroscience • a graduate trainee developing improved radiotherapy equipment for a cancer care company • a nuclear medicine technologist, who uses radioactivity to treat and diagnose disease. Whether working in the National Health Service (NHS), industry or academia, all agree - it feels great to make a difference. The film was premiered in front of 150 aspiring science and engineering students at Bradford College on Thursday 20th March. Since then, it has been used by our outreach volunteers (working medical physicists and medical physics trainees), at careers fairs and on the Future Morph website at http://bit.ly/1kGrpot.

hi bartlett

Physics is all about making life better for humans.Philosophically in medicine a medical practitioner is a physician.Wonderful video i hope you remember to put in other tools invented by physicists eg the Stethoscope, the pinard horn using Acoustics in medical diagnostics, also the sphygmamometer using fluid mechanics and the concept of pressures to alleviate human suffering brought on by disease.i voted for your video hope you find time to rate and review my simple video about simple geometry that we assume yet on daily basis yet depicts how the human mind views the world here- http://fqxi.org/community/forum/topic/2223
