Video Description

This animation shows the 'Morphohedron': a configuration of all five Platonic solids, each one fitting inside the others in turn. The proportions of the edge lengths between polyhedra exhibit powers of the Golden Ratio, creating a sequence of various symmetries from one polyhedron to the next, analogue to how various symmetry groups used in quantum physics can geometrically fit together as suggested by 'Atomic Architecture', which sometimes also involve the same Golden Ratio.

Berkeley, Pebble Beach, CA My work is directed at demonstrating the amazing interrelationship of the Regular Polyhedrons (Platonic Solids plus Kepler/Poinsot), and the Golden Ratio( 1.618). Blending these together creates the three dimensional projection of the Fibonacci numbers. I call this phenomenon the Morphohedron.

The images are stunning. I watched it a couple of times. The imagery plus music alone is fine.

What would have been useful, I think, would have been a second pass through the images with just a few words explaining to us non mathematicians what the significance of the pictures is.

It's tricky to present the mathematics of symmetry breaking and particle physics to a popular audience, so I do appreciate feedback on it.

    I enjoyed this greatly. It was fun to watch, and though it offered no explanation of why these forms are connected to Physics, it made its point graphically - at least to me. As it turns out; my video also features the Platonic solids, as steps toward building an archetypal architecture for Physics. And I notice that Ray Aschheim is part of your team - and that he has also worked with E8 which I mention too. My research studies the relationship between preserved symmetries (as exemplified by such forms) and symmetry breaking - for which the Mandelbrot Set is a catalog. I hope you will find time to watch my video, as well.

    I lived in Huelo for 6 years in the 80's., and built a (vertex down) Tetrahedron shaped house, which is still there.

    I am familiar with your video, and the diagram of "the Monster", which appears to me as the higher dimensional projection ( with 30 vertices) of my morphohedron (with 10 vertices in 2-d projection along one axis through the center of 2 opposing pentagonal faces. ) This makes sense, because the morphohedron contains all regular polyhedrons.
