Thanks to FQXi Member and expert on the nature of time Julian Barbour for pointing out the online videos of talks of the recent Workshop on Time in Physics at the ETH Zurich.

Julian's talk on Time's Arrow and the Entropy and the Universe (research funded in part by FQXi) is available on Day 5 of the workshop. Slides of the Julian's talk are attached here as well.Attachment #1: Zurich_September_2015_Revised_Part1.pdfAttachment #2: Zurich_September_2015_Revised_Part2.pdf

Yes thank you Julian Barbour, and Brendan Foster for sharing these with us.

I think I am relatively competent in thermodynamics but in this case I don't understand anything. Barbour does not move from premises and definitions to conclusions - the only intelligible way to discuss physics (in my view). But that is a universal problem nowadays - the deductive approach (Einstein's special relativity is an example) is long abandoned.

    Hello,

Indeed it is relevant, after all sciences are there to irmpove, find solutions, otpimise in harmony. The responsability of global scientists is so imrportant at this moment. We are at doors of several chaotical exponentials. The sadest is that solutions exist,it is not a problem of matter and energy and space. It is probably due to a lack of global altruistic and universal governances it seems to me humbly. This planet looses its foundamentals and is bad balanced.Too much of unconscious probably in the sphères of power.I am a nursery man and I beleive strongly that we cannot loose our ecosystems and soils on earth and in océans. We are linked with micro meso macro animals and vegetals.Without now a global ecological solution, we cannot reach the points of equilibrium. We must increase and imrpove the global ecosystem. My solution is simple, the composting at big global scale and the vegetal multiplication more harmonisation of exoxytems.A town like New York can show us the example. The walls must be vegetalised and with a natural compost imrpoved. This compost permits to have the chain, all comes from this micro world. We are linked with these bacterias, fungis, algaes, unicells...and with a harmonisation of ecostems with a studied diversity we permits to this chain to balance the meso and macro. It is essential and foundamental, without this simple solution, we cannot live globaly.Soon 10 billions, already that we have difficulties to harmonise socialy,ecologicaly,energeticaly....We cannot continue like that,it is not possible for the future of this planet and the lifes, animals and vegetals.I have invented powders for soils,a sphere of composting also,I have tested the compost without add on many many families of plants, it is ok,they have the memory of the compost.I have remarked even that the natural resistance was incrzased.I have also a global technic agaisnt paludism, the malaria and other disease due to dipteras. The vector is a moskitoe, the anophela femela, the bacteria, an unicell is the pathogen agent. The aim is to add the solutions with the method cited above. The social comportments more the ecosystems can solve .It exists a lot of predators of these dipteras(arachnidshymenopteras,coleopteras.....)and this and that.If we apply this add of solutions,w decrease the number of dispteras and so the number of path agents.I am not going to post all my inventions and detals but I would simply show the generality of these ideas.I have also invented a sphere of composting and this and that.I just want to irmpove this planet.Best Regards

If the subject becomes: What did Clausius discover when he wrote his equations for thermodynamic entropy? The answer is: Temperature needs to be made a definable property. Temperature is, and always has been since its introduction, an indefinable property of thermodynamics. Without an understanding of what is temperature, there has been no path to understanding what Clausius discovered. The idea that lack of understanding is due to a natural unhelpful limitation in the seemingly simplicity of Clausius' work is a cover for lack of understanding of what should have been even simpler clear important empirical guidance. After one returns to basics and defines mass, one learns what is temperature and the knowledge of what did Clausius discover comes immediately to the forefront. What is learned in general terms is that Clausius' thermodynamic entropy is a measure of time. That measure of time contains the identity of a universally constant measure of time. Time is real and the universe keeps control of it, from our object oriented view, by establishing that there is a fundamental increment of time by which all action of objects is universally measured. That fundamental increment of time has a magnitude that has been known.
