  • Ian Durham "Autonomous Boolean networks as an ontology for integrated informatio

Abstract: Integrated information theory (IIT), in its present form, lacks a defined ontology. That said, in IIT version 3.0, working examples are constructed using autonomous Boolean networks. The development of a quantum IIT (qIIT) for which classical IIT is some kind of limiting case, adds additional requirements to any potential ontology such as Boolean networks. The relatively straightforward manner by which Boolean networks can be adapted to quantum inputs as well as their complex and emergent features, make them attractive in this regard. But exactly how to go about adapting these networks to the quantum case relies, at least in part, on the nature of measurement and, in particular, exactly when (or even if) it occurs. Two solutions to this problem are presented and compared within the context of IIT.

Hi, good general idea in considering the mind, matter, wavefunctions, bits, the maths, the network . It is well to recognise this agnostic thought without prefering one or an other philosophy . You analyse after the boolean algebras and the logic gates, it d have been interesting to consider the works of Bob Coeckes about the ZXW calculus and the graphical analysis. They are relevant . Thes boolean operation can be correlated for the intputs and outputs and the relations. I liked the networks of uniteray boolean operations. The IIT with the transition probabilities and their rankings also interesting for the bits and qubits and so the possible simulations and probabilities for the complex systems .

You tell if the operations are relations, are they the mechanism and what is the causal role and so what is indeed the ontology, it is there that the deeper fields and deeper parameters than this GR like the only one truth is important. That is why this consciousness cannot be compute and reached actually due to limitations in maths, physics and philosophy. That is why the contest of FQXi , how could be sciences different is interesting considering these deeper parameters and deeper philosophy. But the thinkers and professionals have difficulties to think outside the box unfortunatelly. The measurements are important but we have these limitations, so no the consciousness for me will not emerge from these actual tools utilised. The quantum states simply are limited . But it was a good general idea, congrats
