Science, as we currently conceive it, is a relatively narrow enterprise, utilizing a rather narrow set of abilities of a narrow slice of the world population. I propose to broaden its conception, to an enterprise which involves more sorts of people, utilizing a broader spectrum of interests, talents, and abilities, allowing alternate forms of expression from the usual method of scientific discourse. I end with four examples which are outside of the conventional mainstream activity, and yet each offer something unique and precious to human scientific knowledge.

I found the essay original and even inspiring. Physics in particular is very narrow and western in view, whereas humankind has many far wider viewpoints and ways to contribute to advancement. Having apparently had a somewhat similar epiphany myself from even broader and more advanced, even apparently alien! intelligences I can sympathise completely with the argument and commend it's importance. Well written. Short but worth a high rating for originality and truth.

I think it is a good essay. Philosophers in the East don't trust so much in Newton theory. The consider it uncomplete because it does'nt fit exactly the assertion that "Every mobile has a motor".

Peter Jackson Thank you. My feeling is that we are going to need to broaden participation in science in order to be able face the upcoming challenges of AI, and, as you suggest, the possibility of the existence of vastly superior 'natural' but non-human intelligences. My prior for the latter tends to increase with every new astronomical discovery...

Let's take the Klein-Gordon equation in quantum mechanics.
In genenral we have : Dalembertian (wave function) not equal to zero than there is no propogation of the wave ( there is attenuation).
For Klein-Gordon equation the Dalembertian is not equal to zero for a massive particle so there is attenuation of the correspondant wave function. As we have wave-corpuscle duality, an attenuation of the wave function correspond for the particle that it moves in a viscous media: space-time is viscous and this is in contradiction with the classical mechanics.
We can say that for for wave-corpuscle duality correspond another duality of space-time: viscosity-dispersion duality ( viscosity for attenuation corpuscles and dispersion for attenuation waves). This is in contradiction with classical mechanics and relativity: there is no friction force of space-time because it is considered always empty. The only way to remove this contradiction is in General Relativity when space -time is considered as full with energy (vacuum energy) at a negative pressure: the viscosity effcet is annihilated by the negative pressure.
This idea is coherent with oriental philosophy: "every mobile has a motor". A corpuscle in a constant motion has always a force applied on to compensate the negative pressure.
