Physics might give the false impression that it can explain what is happening in cosmology and the underlying quantum world, including what underlies chemistry and life, but in fact physics has no imperatives, it only has experimentally found relationships and observations.
I.e. there is no reason for the numbers to start moving to animate the relationships, or for the numbers to continue moving once the relationships have done their work. I.e. the relationships can’t represent a perpetual motion machine.
And there is no explanation for how come the world knows itself, i.e. knows its own set of categories, numbers and relationships as opposed to some other possible set of categories, numbers and relationships.
Physics, chemistry and biology can all say that this and this and this happens, but without a “ghost (or ghosts) in the machine” that knows the system and moves the system, there is actually no explanation at all.
This is not a philosophical issue, this is a matter of physicists, chemists and biologists admitting that there needs to be a type of “ghost in the machine”, in order for the "machine" to function.
