Essay Abstract

What the reality is and what it is described in theory or model is not one thing. What we use and understand is just a model. For answering this question in a model, we have two ways: to include them in basic hypotheses or deduce them from basic hypotheses. I'll try to check the two approaches. Further more, what we see in macroscopic scale is absolutely analog. If the answer in the model we use is digital, I want to know how could digital units form an analog representation.

It's founded some 10 years ago here in my university. The goal of this major is to foster students for further study and research in mathematics or physics. And I'm interested in some topics like this. I'd like to share my understanding in this topics according what I've learnt recently.

I enjoyed your essay. Hopefully you now find it higher in the rankings.

You said; "personally I doubt if there is such an answer within human's reach."

I believe we may find one through logic and the power of dynamic conceptual thought, indeed I hope you may wish to read, evaluate and comment on it here.

Please also comment on the Regazas essay maths if possible as both your maths is beyond mine.

    Many thanks

    Best wishes

Thank you for your nice commentary. The net is very slow here in students' dormitory in my university, especially connecting a foreign website like FQXI. Sorry for my late reply.

Perhaps we could find an answer for this through some pure conceptual thoughs. But only through experimens can we know whether it's right or wrong, or at least an ideal experiment. It's very hard, but it's still possible.

However, if we take some furthur thoughs, it may actually be impossible to know what is the answer in reality. Other theories may have the same result. For example, theory A: 1+1=2, theory B: 1+2-1=2. The result shows "2", we still don't the actual precess, it's all possible. From this perspective, we can't know whether our theory is the same as the reality or not, we can only know whether it is useful or not as a model.

As for the Regazas essay, I'm sorry I haven't found that yet. I'll reply to you once I've seen it. Please give me the link.

      Regards
