In order to comprehend modern neurology, you must know its history, for those who never do get the punch lines, are doomed to repeat history.

Dualism is blatantly self-contradictory, but try telling that to a judge. There's a reason that both consciousness and humor remain total mysteries in academia, along with fuzzy logic, quantum mechanics, and relativity. The accepted English grammar is self-contradictory as well, and the brain doesn't obey classic logic. Even your visual system has proven to revolve around searching for what's missing from this picture, as simply the most efficient way to organize, and it's actually impossible for the huge number of cells in your body to organize any other way. It's distributed computing, requiring networking systems logic, for a gain amplifier.

Your brain looks for what's missing from this picture and, sometimes, you laugh, and learn to ignore something new. Only by learning what to ignore, can you figure out what to pay attention to, with the brain obeying proprioception, attempting to predict the next punch line. Consciousness is about getting the punch lines to the jokes, which is why academia has never found any evidence for its existence.

I tested my daughter when she was four months old, sticking a toy my mouth, shaking my head back and forth and growling like a dog, then, spit it out with a loud noise, like it tasted bad. Sure enough, she laughed hysterically, then started to ignore me after I repeated the joke a few times.

this reminds me of remote laughter , someone is telling a joke , and the joke is funny at the other end of the connection there is no reaction like or whatever back (at most an emojicon) , im not up to date in the last years probably lots of movies and theater around tech have appeared

jokes are a way of shortcuting many ideas - they are a source of intelligence,
the shortcut is made - no more learning needed - therfore joke not funny any more ( unless long time cross by and the joke is forgotten)

i think, there are many singularities at the horizon tending to overlap the question is how to distinguish them and which one is a priority and what should be their order in the short medium and long term future .

Socrates inherited a tribal tradition, that is perfectly compatible with the Tao Te Ching. He believed in the Memory of God, the resplendent face none may look upon and remember in all its glory. There are many singularities, because proprioception and pattern matching rule the universe and, You Are The Singularity Dummy! You cannot access other singularities without first discovering your own. We are each a universe unto ourselves, attempting to predict what comes next and, collectively, creating the world all around us in the present moment.

My job includes documenting how you can make time come to a complete stop, roll backwards, and how to cultivate the magic of the Collective Unconscious. The issue in a singularity is not any silly causal metaphysics, but harmony in diversity producing greater efficiency and creativity. Its Game Theory and systems logic, which anyone can tell you the first thing you learn about systems logics is half the damned planet has no clue what they are, yet will deny their validity at the drop of a hat, and this is that half of the population.

The issue is parallax, juxtapositions, etc. which can all be considered part of parallel processing, and can leverage the fact logic and humor express particle-wave duality. Your eye and optic nerve are good examples, they work like a data-sieve, sifting through the overwhelming amount of data they collect. A billion here, a billion there and, pretty soon, you're talking real photons. The more distributed the network becomes, the less flexible from our point of view, which is why viruses are both dead and alive. However, in each case, they must express the Two Faces of Janus and dimension squeezing, making trade-offs between efficiency and reliability.

A sea snail is a good example. It has maybe 1,800 neurons, and only has to decide whether to eat something it tastes, mate with it, ignore it, or run for its life! The only reason it has neurons in the first place is because they're more efficient at learning what to ignore, which is about 80% of the time. Snails will sometimes taste something, and take off running, slow down, look back over their shoulder, and realize it was nothing, and just keep walking. Their brain itself has to learn how to ignore itself., because thinking is not really an option.

An octopus is about as intelligent as they get, because it has such a well developed visual system, with brains distributed all over its body.

The newest research into Rondeau Time Crystals and quasi crystals indicates time itself can be both random and fated, implying a universal recursion in the principle of identity can now be measured, at room temperature, using off the shelf parts. Ever since Clerk Maxwell formulated electromagnetism, everyone has been attempting to describe everything as Wavy Gravy, but all the evidence has indicated that's impossible to do, even using Quantum Chromodynamics.

Unless you can account for information being more fundamental than energy, your quantum waves are just so many mathematical waves.

This is my essay in the contest, and it is refused with no motivation. I put it on Zenodo yesterday, so it is protected, but now when I look at the new essays the whole contest is a pharse or a joke. How can they accept essays of so low quality, some not even 1 page?

Ulla Mattfolk My complaint is official here: I look throught the new essays coming. So many of them are a pharse, not even 1 page long, some hardly 2 pages... Is there people that want to sabotage this contest, make it ridiculous? And the committee accept this??? And good ones like mine and others are refused? See Alternativ model of reality here. It IS protected, so don't bother to plagiate it.

I thought FQXI was a serious place, but evidently it is not? I am deeply disappointed in the low quality of these essays.

There are a few quite ok, like the ferritin and the epigenetics, the Decoherence engine, but also these are too special, no general reasoning here. No theory building at all... 100 years of quantum is irony.

It looks like they don't want to solve the measurement problem at all, and without a solution QM remain metaphysics. Maybe the money rule here?

Ulla Mattfolk Hi Ulla, I read it and I must say that the idea is very general and you develop many things which deserve to be discussed. Your essay deserved to be accepted in my humble opinion. I don’t know why it was not accepted. A professor from Italy, a contact on LinkedIn, is also disappointed because her essay was also refused, and she showed it to me and it was good, about resonances and fields. A chief of cybersecurity also showed me his essay and it was good, about fractals and consciousness. I don’t understand why they were refused when I see all the essays here . These three essays deserved to have their place in the discussions. You analyze several relevant centers of interest, Ulla. Congrats.

So, it provides relevant pathways to extrapolate physically, biologically, cosmologically, universally, and ontologically. Why do we exist? Why do we evolve? Why do we live? How did quantum mechanics create chemistry, biology, evolution and adaptations in the environment on this line time? The information seems essential for understanding evolution, adaptations, and mutations. Quantum biology is indeed a fascinating topic, don’t hesitate to tell us more, as you are clearly an expert in this field. Regards

Steve Dufourny One paper they wanted us to ponder around was Schrödingers 'What is Life', And it is the negentropy and asymmetry as open systems. In quantum we mainly think around closed Hermitian systems, non-dissipative, so there are a lot to ponder. I have a long time now wondered if we could find a small room for a fundamental consciousness, and the natural place is in the measurement problem, which I also had to change a little. After all time is dissipative as second law, so it must go into the non-dissipative quantum itself... then as imaginary phase, spread out over it all.

Te second problem then became 'what is the root of this fundamental consciousness as quantum, and it has to be 'all of it' as 'all possible states', like a pre-quantum. I imagine this is much like your 0D?

Exactly those why questions arrive. We need a meaning and a purpose added. Why do we live? What is Life? How describe it so we keep the dynamicity of Life? Three big w, as a www.of Life. Episemic, yes. Mixed, yes.

I start from uncertainty as a Tricodon, Life is about exploring this. Time is primordial together with consciousness and maybe they are the same even? I read about how time can give rise to space as instance... Time become a superposition in this thinking.

When we look at Life one of the main charachters is how it is diverse, and form emerge, sometimes very similar in different species. But I still think this complexity is a red herring, don't let it blind you. In quantum we also have the 'no copy' theorem as very important, like half-states are forbidden, we get 'almost states' instead. We do also changes when we hit a hinder, much like bacterias do, we are not that different. I look at symmetries and small asymmetries, convergences and divergences. What are the rules of Life, the codes to look for? This all I want to discuss about.

One of the more important is a 'Law of informational exclusion', taking model from Pauli exclusion. Consciousness is after all about exclusion and non-commutativity. Mind becomes a quantum mind, and follow this exclusion so we get awareness as emergent, and the feeling of being alive. Emotions also becomes a quantum 'tag', more primordial than awareness if we follow Libet.
