A thing I have noticed is that only a few essays approach the problem of life from the perspective of evolution and information. We are the result of evolution ,cosmological and quantum. I have looked at the evolution on Earth, and we see the steps over billions of years. It seems that we have negentropic stabilities due to information encoded in quantum mechanisms, permitting the existence of quantum mechanics, atoms, the Mendeleev table, chemistry, biology, and so on. By analyzing Earth’s evolution, we see diversity and progression.
To simplify greatly, the primordial soup made of H₂O, CH₄, NH₃, HCN, and other compounds created amino acids, then molecules, then unicellular life, then multicellular organisms , sponges, fish, the fish came out of the ocean, and evolution continued ,mammals, primates, and finally us. It continues still, and we have many different animals and plants. I summarize very simply of course but the general idea is there.
Everything is unique. You and I are unique. The real question , that only a few essays in the contest have approached ,is why and how, starting from quantum mechanics. What are the codes, the information, and why this diversity? That is why we need deeper parameters to explain diversity, unique creation, consciousness, and free will. Life has emerged due to information, codes, and encodings of adaptation. That is why entropy and negentropy are important when considering the universe and its complexity.
how information, quantum processes, and evolution relate to the origin and structure of life and consciousness.
Information as the key physical and biological parameter.Life can be seen as organized information processing that locally resists entropy negentropy.Why considering the informations and the ontology. That tells us that these informations, from DE or GR or others are so complex and so relevant ontologically . It is the most complex topic the informations. There is a continuity from quantum to chemistry to biology ....The uniqueness and diversity is fascinating and imagine inside these billions of galaxies in the universe. The fact that every organism is unique tells us that the richness of informations ontologivcally is more than we can imagine.This evolution does not just produce complexity but variety , it seesm an universal principle. The fact that complex systems emerge and that we have a cosmological environments and informations seem the key. Life, information,quantum foundations of evolution , cosmology, universe...When we study the history of life on Earth, from the primordial molecules to conscious beings, we see not just a biological process but a deep informational evolution. Every stage , from atoms to chemistry to biology , represents an increase in organized information maintained against the general trend of entropy.
The early Earth’s primordial soup of water, methane, ammonia, and hydrogen cyanide produced amino acids, which formed proteins, membranes, and eventually self-replicating cells. Over billions of years, these systems evolved through natural selection, generating increasing complexity and diversity ,single cell organisms, multicellular forms, marine life, land animals, mammals, primates, and finally conscious humans, more the plants evolution and all the complexity of animals and vegetals.
This entire process depends on negentropy and information, permitting properties even for the inputs of energy and transformations, like in the description of wires, inputs, outputs, boxes, and spiders in the diagrams of Bob Coecke and ZX calculus. The storage of information and its complexity is the key, together with its transmission.
In this sense, life can be viewed as information-driven negentropic organization, emerging naturally from the physical laws of the universe. Quantum information theory suggests that even at the smallest scales, information is a fundamental feature of physical reality ,even, for me, more fundamental than matter itself. From this viewpoint, the evolution of life and consciousness may be the universe’s way of selforganizing its information. But why and how, and from what, physically and ontologically speaking? The diversity of plants and animals only on Earth is fascinating ,even more so the consciousness. Is life and consciousness the main parameters, as if the whole universe were alive and conscious? I don t assert of course but it is intriguing philosophically and ontologically speaking.Information is the main piece of the puzzle, but it is not easy to understand exactly how it operates at the quantum scale. Yet there is a pure physical logic behind it.
Each living being, therefore, is a unique configuration of quantum and biological information ,a localized expression of universal informational dynamics. Diversity arises because the universe explores an immense information landscape,constantly creating new stable patterns of order in an ocean of possible configurations.
If so, life and consciousness are not accidents but natural emergent properties of a universe whose fundamental language is information. Entropy measures disorder, life is the opposite, the persistent local order that resists it. Consciousness may be the highest level of this negentropic order, the universe becoming aware of its own informational structures and we utilise this consciousness to participate to this evolution. All this is fascinating and the informational explaination must be in fact universal at all scales, quant and cosmological at my humble opinion, it is the meaning of my theory of spherisation in fact the evolution.
